Yah, that binding part is also something where I would be reluctant to agree.
If it does work, then it would not necessarily be un-LHPy, but I would say it would depend on why it works.
Seems like that guy focuses much on testing what works - a worthy endeavor, albeit it might be a good idea if he'd also publish his test procedures and results lest they don't end up as mere anecdotal.
Personally, I would be more interested in the why than the how.
And with most instructions to magick I so far encountered I don't really feel comfortable with, and the procedure he describes is at the end of feeling really uncomfortable/wrong to me. But that might just be my personal psychological hangups as an armchair magician.
