I dunno if I'm a cool cat but I consider it a high form of art up there with classical. Started off with some Duke Ellington and Nat King Cole.

I'm a big fan of guys like Eric Dolphy, Thelonious Monk, Cecil Taylor, Ornette Coleman, John Coltrane, John Zorn (yep, he does jazz too!), electric-period Miles Davis, Charles Mingus  :)

Steve Coleman is one of my favorites. I discovered him a few years ago and his live album "Resistance is Futile" still hasn't left my car stereo. One of the best groups around IMHO.

I listen to jazz, support jazz, play jazz guitar and teach jazz guitar and theory . . .
