I like the background just as it is, fwiw. I love the colors...and it has precision. I've never been very good at precision with sketching or drawing. Good work.

The colours were also something where I was fairly unsure how to start deciding, but it was clear that violet needs to be included, and the rest then happened fairly automatically. With these things it's best to limit oneself to only a few colors, at least some of which are opposites.
(and doing some hue, brightness and contrast adjustion with Gimp always helps xD)
Hm, with precision it helps if the original size of the picture is much larger than how it's supposed to be seen in the end.
The original is about 13x18 cm, and on most screens even the high-resolution version is smaller than that I suppose, let alone the profile picture version.
In other words, I don't think I was very precise, but that it has a lot of illusion of precision. E.g. the coloring of the horns was basically just randomly zigzagging with three colors (plus a few initial strokes with pencil).
And some was completely unintentional. E.g. I left some white parts around the tongue because it's not that easy to be that precise
but now those look quite like saliva
Gonna leave the background as is. Most of that brighter pattern there is actually because the paper is a bit wavy and so the scanning caught some reflecting light.
:DThis was kinda meh so I just colored it and washed my hands. Lol
