I'm open to the RHP, I think it works for a lot of people. Sometimes it even seems appealing because of how easy it would be for someone this far along on the LHP. That's totally different than if we get like a spam attack about how we're going to hell.

After all the hell and bullshit I've been through in my life, I still, and will always prefer the Path of most resistance.  It has become a part of my being.  The struggle, the challenge, I say "bring it on"!  This is the attitude of the Elect of Set.  I challenge anyone to try and compare their life's occasional trials and tribulations to that of Set's great aeonic struggles.  Remember, Xepera - "hard times make great Magicians".

I get what you mean but do disagree with discriminating back at them, we don't have to sink to their level. Is this forum against the right hand path? I've occasionally seen it referred to in a very unfavorable way, such as your comment.

Aside from that, The Bible is an important book to the occult whether you like it or not and L. Ron Hubbard's books are also ironically hilarious to read for comedy.

Hello Richard,

I am all for uncovering the gems of Set's knowledge wherever they may be found.  I agree that such documents like the Christian bible may contain some interesting nuggets.  I don't mind if forum members wish to intelligently discuss the religions of the RHP in the "other religions" discussion board.  However, the O.S. and this forum is of the Left Hand Path; we are about the liberty and independence of Isolate Self-Consciousness and Intelligence.  We are absolutely against the subjugation of the freedom of mind and will that these RHP religions espouse and propagate.

Furthermore, as tolerant as we try to be here, this forum is not a free for all and we will not tolerate, for instance, one or more Christians joining and attempt to troll us and tie up the "other religions" discussion board by constantly vomiting forth their "glory of Christ" propaganda.  They will be banned and all their content will be deleted.

All trolls are herewith forewarned!

I also think that officially the Mormon Church (the original Latter Day Saints one) now doesn't practice or condone polygamy so that's worth mentioning. "Scam" fits better but maybe scam fits Scientology more.

Even though Scientology isn't a religion (despite that they'd like to be self-professing itself as a "church" - for legal matters, but it's not. It's just really shoddy pseudo-psychology), the 'word' that best describes it's methods is "Engram:mrgreen:
alternatively, two words: Body Thetan  :P

Mormons are just post-Christians, really. Their doctrines aren't that different in general, apart from kinda just expanding it into another 50 books

This forum, the O'.'S'.' rejects all forms of Scientology, Mormonism, Jehovah's Witness ideology, Christian/Islamic propaganda, and other Right Hand Path ideological forms of mental and emotional subjugation and domination.

They are all venefications of our own Being!

My understanding;

The Word that permeates through all others from the times of ancient Egypt (Aeon of Isis) to the present is Ma'at = Truth, Justice, Balance.

(Aeon of Osiris)
The Word of Moses - Restriction = The Ten Commandments
The Word of Jesus - Agape = Unconditional Love for God
The Word of Mohammad - Islam = Submission

Then we have;
Thelema = True Will (Aeon of Horus)
Indulgence = Free from guilt exploration of all life's passions and pleasures that lead to self-furtherance and exaltation. (Age of Satan)

(Aeon of Set)
Xeper = I Have Come Into Being
Xem = something like, the unknown god within who has become Known and manifest.  A new realm or State of Being.
Remanifestation = the continual manifestation and exercise of all that which one has previously Become in order to produce a new, more refined and fully faceted Being.  Possibly the Key to psyche-centric Immortality.
Runa = Mystery, Reyn til Runa = Seek after the Mysteries.  The Key to Xeper.
Arkate (?), something about the support of the Black Flame within other Earthly species, not just humans.

I have had similar experiences, they could be called moments of Xeper, clarity of purpose realizations, achieved Understanding.  I am reminded of certain events such as that morning I woke up the day after Christmas, when I was 15 and accepted myself as a Satanist, I was euphoric.  The night I first invoked the name of Set when, I am convinced, Set did come forth and enshrined within me further of his Essence and ordained me as one of his own - I Became Setian.  The racing thoughts, new perceptions, the sensation I was levitating.  The euphoric after-glow of that Working lasted for months.

That day when I achieved my Understanding of the relationship between Set and Horus/HarWer, and the sacred bond with mankind.  That day when I truly became Aware of my Thelema/True Will.

They were all moments of great inspiration which completely changed or altered my mind and/or soul and, most of them, the direction of my life.

Are we occult?  As the word "occult" primarily means "knowledge of that which is hidden", which includes the Magical and mystery religions of the world such as everything from Setianism, Satanism, Luciferianism, Thelemic, Hermetic.  So, yes, the O.S. is occult based.  A prime directive of the O.S. is to uncover and study the mysteries of the occult/Black Arts - its all in the "Founders' Statement".

I was talking with Onyx last night and was reminded of another great benefit of the Order and other groups such as the ToS.  The friendships that develop; the kinship, brotherhood, the culture we share, that sense of community, and common goals.  As Magicians we are ultimately alone in our individual quests, however, we also desire and need the fellowship of those of our own kind, to share our knowledge, ideas, and experiences.  It makes the path easier and fulfilling when we collaborate, just as we collaborate with our Best Friend on the Path, That Which Is the Lord of Darkness.  8)

A good understanding of the raison d'etre for the Order of the Serpent is given in my post

The O'.'S'.' was founded to be a community and school of and for the study and practice of the metaphysical philosophies of the Left Hand Path and the Occult/Black Arts; such as Setianism, Satanism, Luciferianism, Thelema, Chaos/Discordian Magic, Kemetic and Hermetic philosophy and Magic, and a myriad of other avenues in the occult or Dark Arts.

The O.S. is a place for Self-exploration, discovery, and empowerment, whose members develop their own Magical skills, their understanding of themselves and their own subjective universe and its relation to the objective universe.  This is the realm in which the Sorcerer/Sorceress creates their own unique belief systems based upon the knowledge and wisdom gained throughout a Life of unique existence.

My concern for the O.S. forum is that even though people join, and I like this, but it seems only a few of them actually participate.  Very few of them actually post or create threads.  If you have something to say to the forum in a Magical and/or philosophical sense, then please say it!  We are not a free for all, but I think we are one of the more welcoming forums out there.

I am more into the Satanic or black arts symbolism and the "dark" triumphant themes of my own brand of black metal music and lyrics.  However, there is no denying the roots of black metal are rather obscure, and in some cases violent, misanthropic, and melancholic in real life.

I don't see how this list could be accurate, for example it lists both Set and Horus as PoD.

Set and Horus are both aspects of the Prince of Darkness.

I probably should have said that Set and Horus both are aspects of the Prince of Darkness, he/It has many more aspects than just two.  And to me Set and Horus are much more than one being the dark and the other being the light side of a particular being.

The O.S. has no problem with members belonging to other groups. The ToS policy states a IIĀ° or higher initiate must not belong to other religious organizations. It has not come up yet in reality, but I would argue that the O.S. is not a "religious institution" at odds with the ToS, and that a ToS member violating ToS rules here would find a welcome in neither group.

Either way I am planning to apply to the ToS myself.

I don't see the O.S. as a religious institution either, but rather a school or learning center for serious students of the Left Hand Path and practitioners of the Occult/Black Arts.  I would also recommend the Temple of Set to all open minded spiritual "entrepreneurs".  ;)
