Announcements / Order of the Serpent 2018 Update
« on: June 21, 2018, 03:39:45 pm »
Hello everyone!

It has been a very long time since we had an update for the Order of the Serpent, and I felt today, which marks the beginning of the death of the Sun, was an appropriate day to get things back in order. First and foremost there will indeed be at least one new newsletter - The Imperishable Star - in the year of 2018. As the membership has leveled out there are a few less members who are dedicated to their own lives outside of the Order. We are busy people with busy lives, some of us in school, some of us leading massive work projects, some of us just busy as all hell. This is not something I am upset with though, it is a great honor to work with such committed and accomplished magicians. But we do have a duty in a sense to provide what this organization has promised to provide. As of now the plan is to have articles submitted by the end of September for publishing, to allow for more time without having to rush what we write.

Another new change is that the Order of the Serpent is considering publishing works from non-members in the newsletter. The founder's statement states something I have taken greatly to heart: "The Order is dedicated to the accumulation and preservation of the knowledge and undefiled wisdom of the Prince of Darkness." To me this simply means it is part of our goal to collect esoteric ideas, not solely to create them. Due to this I plan on reaching out to well established occultists with extensive knowledge in certain areas to share knowledge on those areas. This will be optional of course, but I think it will add a lot to The Imperishable Star and the work of the O.S.

Another new implementation is aimed at O.S. discussions being spread without forcing people onto the forum itself. For example, I plan to take interesting threads from the O.S. forum and share them on other forums such as Reddit. These will be posted in such a way where the conversation can take place on the forum one is one without having to sign up for the O.S. (though there are of course benefits of actual forums over something like Reddit of Facebook conversations). The original O.S. topic will be linked in the new threads so one can follow it if they desire without feeling like they're being forced to sign up here to discuss.

I took a break from the idea of an Imperishable Star 2017 book, but would be interested in feedback community. You see the idea would be to publish a hardcopy, edited, and more artistic edition of all the newsletter's from last year. My biggest concern would be this would have to be bought, making everything the O.S. provides no longer free. That said it would be more a collectible as all the newsletters will remain free on the website, and all money we would make would be put back into the O.S. such as running the forum or possibly one day even doing more like hosting events. I am too torn though on this and would love to hear both what those involved with the O.S. and those outside of it would think about this collectible book.

Other than that things are going well. I could not be more proud of this Order and could not be more honored to work with those both in the Order and our close friends who populate our Forums and support us. I believe the O.S. has the possibility to become something truly unique and desperately needed within the Left Hand Path community over the coming years, hopefully finding that perfect balance between community and individual freedom.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support, and like the Ancient Serpent, so too may you endure!!!

I've been thinking about reaching out to certain active, frequent, and respected members of the forum, outside of the Order, to contribute articles to the Imperishable Star. Even the exclusivism of the newsletter bothers me to an extent haha. I'm not talking about anyone contributing whatever, but reaching out to individuals with extensive knowledge and certain topics to discuss those topics. What else could be more in keeping with the core idea of gathering esoteric knowledge from modern occultists?

Founders statement clip: "The Order is dedicated to the accumulation and preservation of the knowledge and undefiled wisdom of the Prince of Darkness."

The OS need not be the only ones who's knowledge gets published, we just have to round it up.
