Forum Guidelines Welcome to the Order of the Serpent forum. Here are a few things to keep in mind when using the system:

Forum Decorum

1. Posting
This forum is intended to facilitate mature Left-Hand Path discussions. The boards are lightly moderated, but personal attacks and trolling won't be tolerated. Please format posts so others can read them. You are in control of your content and can modify it at any time with the exception of deleting entire threads.

Discussing illegal activities or perpetuating racism, neo-nazism, and other hate-based philosophies will result in the related posts to be deleted and a ban.

2. Security
Avoid sharing personal information on the site, and use email addresses that can't easily be traced back to you personally. In the event of a problem, there may be little choice but to revert to a previous snapshot, so please keep copies of important posts.

1. Images
The easiest way to post images is to simply attach them. If you want them to appear in-line, use the "Insert Image" button on the toolbar and provide a link to the image. Imgur images should inline without tags as long as you link to the actual JPG or PNG and not the main page.

2. Videos
The forum automatically embeds YouTube videos, so just paste the link directly into the message.

3. Audio
MP3, WAV, and OGG attachments will cause a player to be displayed at the bottom of the message. Soundcloud audio may be embedded like this:
Code: [Select]
[soundcloud]<song url>[/soundcloud]
[cloudset]<set url>[/cloudset]

4. Conversations
There is a bug in the Conversations system that causes attachments to be deleted if the post is previewed, so please add them last.

5. Gallery
The image gallery only shows an alert when a comment is made.

6. BBCode
BBCode is useful if you prefer to use an external editor. The following tags are supported:

abbr  acronym  anchor  b  bdo  black  blue  br  center  code  color  email  flash  font  ftp  glow  green  html  hr  i  img  iurl  left  li  list  ltr  me  move  nobbc  php  pre  quote  red  right  rtl  s  shadow  size  sub  sup  table  td  time  tr  tt  u  url  white  justify  h1  h2  h3  h4  h5  h6  nofollow  youtube  yt  vimeo  gifv

7. Blogs
A (very) basic blog system is available. PM me for details if interested. Example:

8. Time Zone
The server is set for UTC time. In your profile under Look and Layout there is a Time Offset field you can use to show your local time. If you live in an area that has Daylight Saving Time, you may have to adjust the offset manually. (The auto-detect link will usually take care of it.) If anyone needs assistance with this please let me know.

Order of the Serpent Update, May 2017

Hello everyone! The first official O.S. newsletter is on it's way, but I just wanted to give a quick update to those interested. First and foremost the O.S. Forum is up and running. It is a forum dedicated to the LHP, one that hopes to fill a serious lack of such communities. It is not solely for Setians, or solely for theists, or even solely for followers of the LHP, but for anyone interested in discussion of topics related to the LHP. Onyx is very proud of the forum, as they well should be! It's new and small, but do not mistake that for it being exclusivist: all forums start somewhere, and we greatly await the arrival of more diverse opinions.

There are several exciting articles coming with the newsletter, many of which are the initiatory works of new members. As discussed at previous times, there are no ranks or fees within the O.S., simply a LHP project of an individual's choosing. We will have an article by new member Merytseth on Mathematical Platonism, providing a simple explanation on it and set theory, and a logical argument for it. Setamontet has provided a large ritual of his own devising, and created a small FAQ on Setian religion which has been answered by several members (not all of whom are Setian!). Thelemic initiate Agape Therion has provided a short essay on "The Rise and Fall of the World in Comparative Mythology," and may perhaps have another essay. Onyx has provided a list of feature updates for the forum and site, as well as future plans, and a small review of "Black Magic" by Dr. Michael Aquino. It's possible that each member will be providing more than one essay as well. Other members are working on articles which may make it in this letter, but fear not there will be more!

As for now, we feel things are going well. The forum is coming together, essays are coming in, cooperative rituals are being done across the world, and best of all, many are taking an interest whether as guests to the forums or messages to the order or individual members. If we never grew beyond this, it would still be something to be proud of, a true dream come true for us. We thank everyone who has taken the time to care this past year, and look forward to communicating with you all in the future.

Like the name of Set, so too may your name endure!

Call to the Old Ones and Opening of the Gates
Call to the Old Ones and Opening of the Gates
by Setamontet

I'a Nyarlathotep!  The Black Prince who rideth the whirlwinds of the Abyss, hail thou Messenger who brought to the Earth the Shining Trapezohedron, thou who giveth to man substance of being and the knowledge of the Nine Angles.  Open the Gate of Darkness that the black light of Starry Wisdom may illuminate the way.  Come forth, O thou Herald of the Barrier, and enshrine within me your primordial essence.

I'a Yog-Sothoth!  Master of Dimensions, thou Faceless One who doth order the planes and the angles, and who art the gateway to worlds beyond time and spiritual black dimensions.  Come forth, and guide me through the night of thy creation, and enshrine within me your primordial essence.

I'a Shub-Niggurath!  Primal Father and Lord of the Angles, Master of the World of Horrors, hail thou Black Ram of the Sun, and Deathless One!  Come forth from thy burnt and blackened temple beyond the gates more ancient than time, and enshrine within me your primordial essence.

Hail, Nyarlathotep!
Hail, Yog-Sothoth!
Hail, Shub-Niggurath!
We are become as One!

The Old Ones were, the Old Ones are, and the Old Ones shall be again!  They came and man was here: they sleep and we watch for them.  They shall sleep, and we shall die, but we shall return through them.  We are their dreams, and they shall awaken.  Hail, to the Ancient Dreams!

Unto the beginning and the ending of dimensions!  May the undefiled knowledge of the Shining Trapezohedron enfold my being, and guide me as I Xeper and Remanifest in the Quest for the Infernal Graal. Open wide the Gates of Ry Leh and bring forth upon this world unfathomable creations.  Let lose the Hounds of Tindalos that they may devour the souls of the righteous, and rend asunder the temples and mosques of the death-gods of men!  The Way is Yog-Sothoth, and the Key is Nyarlathotep!

I'a I'a Cthulhu fhtagn!

The Symbol of the Serpent Since the Serpent is the symbol of our own order, I thought it would be good to begin a discussion of the Serpent as a symbol in various religions and cultures.

To begin with, the most obvious example is, of course, the Genesis Serpent.  After being warned that if they eat from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil they will "surely die," the serpent tells Eve (or Chava, as I prefer the Hebrew names) that she will not die, but rather that they will become like god, and god does not wish that to happen.  Sure enough, once the fruit is eaten, the Angel says "Now he is like us."  In this, arguably the central myth of the Judeo-Christian mythology, the Serpent tells the truth, and God lies.  Genesis makes no attempt to obfuscate it.  This makes it clear to me that the Genesis Serpent is not intended to be a stand-in for evil, but rather is used as the Serpent is often used in mythology and symbolism, to represent knowledge and wisdom and, in the case of the Genesis myth, as the supplier of isolate consciousness and self awareness; to place it into our own terms, the guardian of Xeper, and the custodian of the path to godhood.

There are many other examples of the Serpent as a symbol for wisdom.  The Caduceus and Rod of Asclepius are two more well known examples.

The Egyptian netjer Wadjet takes the form of a Serpent, and is the protector of Lower Egypt, associated with other netjeru including Bast, Sakhmet, and Mut (the World-Mother).  In this role she takes on a solar aspect, as Bast and Sakhmet are Eyes of Ra, but Wadjet is also associated with the eclipsing binary star Algol (meaning "The Demon," appropriately enough), which represents the eye in the severed head of Medusa in the modern constellation Perseus.  I've been interested in Wadjet as a stellar netjer for a while and may put together an essay on the subject.

What are some other favorite instances of the Serpent in mythology?

Official statement on Order of Nine Angles discussion 1. The ONA is certainly a topic open for discussion on the O.S. forum. Academically speaking, their unique ideology really cannot be ignored.

2. Even the slightest threat to forum members, whether violent, personal, or any conceivable threat, will result in an immediate and permanent ban. This goes for every user on every topic, but warrants mention here.

3. The O.S. officially and adamantly rejects the ideology of the ONA. As an O.S. forum this site will not tolerate any encouragement of things like human sacrifice, acts of terror, extremism, fascism, etc. These posts will be removed, and the user will be banned if it happens again.

4. If the rules are followed, those who take from the ONA are certainly allowed to participate. However, threads or posts that are part of attacks on forums, as is known to happen now and then, will result in a ban.

This thread will remain open for questions.

Activation Problems My sincere apologies for the recent issue where activation emails weren't being sent out. It should be fixed now, please email me directly at if you encounter any problems or to offer feedback.

I have put a lot of effort into this project and will continue to do so for the sake of intelligent Western Left-Hand Path discussions. The Order of the Serpent welcomes you to participate in our pursuit of individualism, and if there is anything we can do to assist in this regard, please let us know.

Re: Official statement on Order of Nine Angles discussion @Sutekh

As the forum owner, I have a legal and ethical obligation to enforce these rules, which should not be too difficult to comprehend. I also have little tolerance for trolls.

Re: Official statement on Order of Nine Angles discussion
However, threads or posts that are part of known ONA attacks on forums will result in a ban.
Do you mean threads or posts with extreme sympathies from the ONA by attacking others opinions within this site?  And do you also mean quoting other threads and posts from ONA attacks from other sites by pasting it here on a thread within the site resulting in a ban?
I mean anyone who perpetuates or engages in the ONA's known forum swarms, the type that even upsets Religious Forums and the 600 Club, will find no more of a welcome here.

Re: Official statement on Order of Nine Angles discussion
This goes for every user on every topic, but warrants mention here.
What do you mean that this goes for every user within every topic? Does this mean that if every user is involved in a thread pertaining to unnecessary threats being connected to the ONA, would that mean those involved without intentions are banned?  Also another question I have, what do you exactly mean warrants mention here? Is it warrants within Law Enforcement? Pardon me if I am wrong but Iv'e seen quite a bit of Detective TV series.
Those users who themselves make threats will be banned. It warrants mentioning here due to the known  ideology and behavior of certain ONA groups.

Re: On Junk Food I love junk food, it's only big downside for me is stomach pain which I also get after eating a salad with water. Constant physical pain even in the face of self-care and gym time has created a much different view for me, I'm not all that attached to my body. It and myself are separate things, and we don't get along well.
