Salutations! Hello everyone, I recently stumbled across this website the other day doing research into the Occult and mainly The Temple of Set.

Just a little about me, I was raised Catholic but could never relate to the others at my Church and I was constantly getting in trouble at a young age for challenging the Church and my Priest. I became very interested in the Occult during my early teenage years, I always felt I could sense and feel what others could not. Multiple physic mediums told me I possessed some type of gift. Through messing with ouija boards and Satanism (I was seriously uneducated) I became a full believer in the Occult.

15 years later my interest in these matters has exploded, a spiritual awakening as some call it. I am very interested in the Setianism along with my own path into black magick, so hopefully this will be a good place for me

Offerings to Set So within the past few years I've slowly been building an altar dedicated to Set and Thoth, but mainly Set; surprisingly, this was before I even discovered The Temple of Set and this website as well, which I found to be pretty enlightening.

Anyways, I was wondering what to offer Set on my altar? I know a lot of people offer things like food, various herbs and the like, is there anything specific Set likes? I am in the process of building a personal relationship with him. Any advice would suffice, thanks in advance!

Re: Offerings to Set Wow thank you so much for the info, this helps tremendously!

Very interesting to note that he's associated with the Big Dipper, that is the constellation I've always been drawn to and point out to my friends at night for as long as I can remember (love how things work out like that.)

Now I've got some ideas; one day I'll post an image of the altar, it's pretty lame right now lol. I have a few images of Set I've printed off via google images and the like, looking getting a nice statue of Set to put front and center very soon. Thanks again.

Re: Offerings to Set
If you're looking to print images this is great: http://www.joanlansberry.com/setfind/setfind.html

This is exactly what I was looking for to add some more detail, thank you very much!

I unfortunately have to practice my works in private at the moment; consequently, my altar is cramped up in my closet, but regardless it looks somewhat similar to the images you shared  :P .

I am looking to also build up my book collection, in my opinion books (especially magickal ones) hold a lot more power than just text written in them, especially if they're being used for specific works. My book of the dead definitely has quite the charge to it. I read all of Black Magic 101 the other day and enjoyed it so much I'll be buying a physical copy soon to add to the collection.

Regarding Set's favorite color being red, I think I'll go out and get some red candles this week, been looking to add some anyways but wasn't sure what color would be best for the altar. I tend to light candles no matter what act of magick I do, even if it's a simple 3 card Tarot reading, it does something for me more than just set the mood, it helps me enter a trance much faster.

Re: Offerings to Set
I also see you mention Thoth. He's actually very closely related to Set, a part of him even. In fact, Thoth was the child of Horus and Set, the unity of the two forming an equilibrium. Thoth is also associated with knowledge, magic, the night sky, etc. I'd say Thoth is also my #2 next to Set.

I was unaware of the connection between Set and Thoth, again, love how these things work out, it's actually very inspirational.

I also had no idea of the Black Flame Tarot, I have been using the classic Rider Waite deck, with pretty good results thus far. I was going to invest in Crowley's Thoth deck but after doing a little google searching I'm intrigued by this BFT deck.

I found a few, I'm assuming this is what you were talking about?

Re: What are you listening to? Been listening to one of my old bandmates solo Black Metal project Dark Winter

Check him out! https://darkwinter.bandcamp.com/album/grim-utterances

Brutal classic black metal with a modern twist I guess?

Re: Don Webb books, which to read first? Thanks everyone, much appreciated! Going by your responses, I'll start with the Essential Guide first then go on to the 7 Faces of Darkness.

I'm currently in the middle of reading Michael Aquino's Black Magick PDF and have found it to be pretty informative. My only complaint about Aquino's writing style is I feel he uses a lot of big words which essentially act as fluff resulting in him just tip-toeing around the core topic; regardless, the section on LBM for me was really good. Looking forward to his take on GBM.

I've been doing a lot of research on Setianism in general lately, next up I plan on doing a bunch of reading pertaining to Luciferianism. I view Lucifer as an actual deity, who I believe was my first contact with any deity when I was young and dumb, and messing around with stuff I shouldn't have been messing with, but that is for another topic completely.  8)

Re: Don Webb books, which to read first? For me I've always kind of identified myself as a Satanist, the way LaVey portrays things, except for the fact I'm not an atheist, but the general principal of seeing ourselves as our own God and bettering ourselves through our own consciousness, learning, etc...

So I've been searching for what seems right to me regarding my own beliefs, but like someone mentioned above, one rabbit hole always seems to lead to another rabbit hole when pertaining to anything Occult wise lol. Don't know if I could ever dedicate myself to one particular thing like Setianism or Satanism, I'm all over the place  :P which in conclusion is why I find this website and the members so fascinating, albeit extremely helpful at that.
