Re: Why a black candle? (and other questions) Do you own 777 by Crowley? It's massive correspondence tables including things like candles. So you could basically look up "black candle" and see every God, ideas, symbol, etc associated with it. Sure it's a work of extreme synchronism so not necessarily objective fact, but it's very helpful for spellwork type magic that utilizes things like that.

St. Peter's Cross (the inverted cross) So esoteric LHP groups have always recognized the inverted cross as a Christian symbol, I sign that one is not even worthy to die like Christ. Literally as rhp as it gets.

However, I recently heard that Peter made no such choice, that he was crucified upside down to mock the crucification and that the church spun it in their favor (something we know they literally constantly do).

Does anyone know which is the true history and symbolism of the inverted cross?

Re: St. Peter's Cross (the inverted cross) It doesn't make sense that the Roman's under Nero would grant a last wish to Peter that honored Christ.

Couldn't the Romans had possibly decided to humiliate St. Peter by crucifying him upside down? Theoretically speaking.

Had the same thought. Hell maybe they were mocking his faith and the church spun it later like they spun literally all history to fit their needs.

Re: Introduction Welcome! As a Setian I differentiate between nature and non nature. The Prince of Darkness Set, known in Christianity and Judaism as Satan, is not a part of nature to me, but something ontologically distinct. To me nature is blind, mindless, and mostly deterministic if not fully. When we understand its laws we can tap in or manipulate it which is what magic is. That manipulation is unnatural up me because it wouldn't occur naturally without consciousness (which itself is in the unnatural category, not a product of mindless matter).

LaVeyan Satanism is the only form of the LHP I know where Satan is part of nature. The distinction of Satan apart from nature, the Prince of Darkness to the Prince of Light, is foundational to the LHP. For this reason (and Gilmore's generally dogmatic nature) many now question if LaVeyan Satanism is LHP at all.
