I just finally watched Gods of Egypt and, dammit, I loved it. Need the Blu-ray for sure.

Wow, really?  I only saw the advertisements, and it seemed like a broad-brush Clash of the Titans style action romp.  If it's good, I'm interested.
The last movie I saw was The Bye Bye Man.  A satisfying enough supernatural thriller.

Before that, we saw The Void, which I highly recommend.  Dark, intense, and lots of fun.  Has a Clive Barker-esque feel.

I was disappointed with the Gods of Egypt, I thought they could have done a lot more with the story line.  I give it about a 2 1/2 out of 5 stars.

I recently watched Suicide Squad starring Will Smith, it wasn't too bad.  I give it about a 3 out of 5 stars.

I also recently watched again The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.  That film is awesome 5 out of 5 stars.  I liked how she got revenge on the guy that raped her!

I love Fincher's American version of Dragon Tattoo. I also recently watched Nocturnal Animals again, always awesome. My copy of the Watchmen Ultimate Cut should be here today, I've somehow never seen it!

I prefer the Swedish Dragon Tattoo films, but the American adaptation is definitely solid, and the Trent Reznor score is fantastic.

The Watchmen Ultimate Cut is definitely well worth it if you're a fan of the graphic novel.  I'd imagine that the "Black Freighter" being cut in as it was in the comic may be a little strange to people unfamiliar with the source material, but I loved it.

Sin City is another one of my favorites; "The Hard Good Buy".  Marv played by Mickey Rourke is fucking awesome and funny.

I'm the biggest Watchmen fan out there, I'm very excited. I got the $60 collector edition with the hard copy novel and all, and it's getting a full shelf on one of our bookshelves. At this point I'll probably buy some Watchmen statues too.

Anger's Lucifer Rising. And yes, I did watch Nocturnal Animals recently. And Under the Skin because I honestly liked Scarlet's performance in that movie over Ghost in the Shell. I can't blame her. I think the delivery of the movie (G.i.t.S) made sense in some places but not really in others. The anime with its movies are top-notch.

Second viewing of Gods of Egypt and I can confirm my love for it. Watched Suicide Squad extended edition and, while still pretty disappointing, it definitely beats any of the marvel movies now. I really hope we get to see more Jared Leto joker, preferably R rated.

Here is a scene from the film "Magic", a psychological thriller about a stage magician and ventriloquist who develops a sociopathic/homicidal second personality which takes the form of the dummy he uses in his performances.

I am reminded here of a simi-reccuring dream I used to have from when I was about 5-7 years old.  I would seem to "wake up" in the darkness, though still dreaming, and a woman dressed in a black robe would be standing at the foot of my bed holding a book.  The way she would look at me with her eyes "terrified" me, and would actually wake me up in horror.  When I was 7, one night I grew tired of my fear of the dark, I got out of my bed and stood in the middle of the room in pitch blackness, I outstretched my arms and welcomed the dark and everything in it.  Almost immediately a warmth and peace washed over me and I became friends with the darkness.  This was my first step into the realms of the occult world.  After that night I never dreamed about that particular woman in black.  In ancient Egypt one of the Forms of Set was Sender of Nightmares.

I used to be scared of the dark quite a bit as well from childhood, I recalled locking the doors during the night in concern of paled winged vampires sucking my blood.:)  But I recalled I more or less perhaps started on my journey to my own dark path by worshiping Satan and Lucifer when I was 7 or 8 years old.  I was of course trying to experiment if these entities truly exist at the time.  I remember the funniest moments at Christmas  I was 8 years old,  I told my mother that I wish Satan was there.  My mother of course told me that Santa's not going to bring you any presents.

Michael Shannon was also General Zod in Man of Steel.
As to the other replies, I have a recurring dream location that I have been trying to document when I can.  Perhaps I will start sharing those here.

"The Car" is about a demonically possessed black Lincoln/Sedan from Hell that goes around killing people and terrorizes a small town in Utah.  The film sort of has a Walt Disney/Horror vibe.  There is a quote from Anton LaVey at the beginning, its a pretty good film.

Ranking the star wars movies, that's a tough one. I'll give it a shot. Of course I love them all more than most movies!

7. A new hope/Rogue One

6. Return of the Jedi

5. Empire

4. Force Awakens

3. Attack of the clones

2. Revenge of the sith

1. TPM

Second viewing of Gods of Egypt and I can confirm my love for it.

I just watched my third viewing of Gods of Egypt early this morning and was struck by the scene when Ra asked Set why he was unleashing Chaos?  Set answered it wasn't to destroy Creation, but to "Re-Shape" it.  That was significant to me! = )

Something really cool: A few nights ago I got a free preview for HBO with my Hulu. So I started watching the first episode of True Detectives. Today, in the library, I see that it is one of the one's on our list. I take that as one of those nice little "coincidences" that I am in the right place.

The Conjuring and The Conjuring 2.  Ever since I was a kid I've loved films about haunted houses beginning with both the film and book The Amityville Horror.  Some other favorites are The Haunting (1963), The Legend of Hell House, Burnt Offerings, This House Possessed, The Shining, The Changeling.

300 (the one about Sparta and the Persian war) just because it was the only thing I had laying around I hadn't watched recently.

I had lost internet and had nothing to play in the background while I did some work.

I don't really own very many movies. Before that I had actually fairly recently (like over a week ago) watched starship troopers for the first time ever (the original). It was pretty good but it was clear it was "too smart" of a movie for it's typical genre.

I saw this movie for the first time a few years ago - The Blair Witch Project. It was just on again, and I like to watch movies over and over. lol I liked it, it is very simplistic, but using your imagination to think of what could have been hunting the three main characters, is so jarring. Being lost in the woods in and of itself would be upsetting enough, let alone with a deranged ghost chasing you.  :|

If it counts, I'm about to watch some MST3K tonight. Not sure which movie yet, either start where I left off with the new season with Avalanche or go back and watch something from the old seasons like Godzilla or Gamera.

I'm about to revist the old classic monster movies from Universal again. I still want to find a really good faithful to the book adaptation because Victor Frankenstein is so damn relatable in the book.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. I actually really enjoyed and loved it. I thought it was better than the first due to having a strong central theme and way better pacing. It didn't drag the action scenes out as much as the first. Still pretty hilarious as well. I've been pretty critical of Marvel movies since the end of phase 2 to the point where I haven't seen much of phase 3 but I really enjoyed this one.

Also, In The Mouth of Madness was fantastic. I need to finish Carpenter's Apocalypse triology. I think Mouth of Madness is movie to get Lovecraft's atmosphere the most correct honestly. It might have replaced The Thing as my favorite Carpenter movie.

I watched Absentia. I've been hunting a horror movie to go with Halloween and The Void for next Friday. This movie wasn't it.

However, this movie was also amazing. I'm having quite a nice run. The horror is well done though pretty much secondary to the main themes. I highly recommend it, just save it for post-Halloween cause it's crunch time now.

Man of Steel. Good movie though nowhere near BvS or Watchmen.

@Rougue (http://orderoftheserpent.org/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=49)  Is love witch that movie that was a throw back to the old 60's horror movies made with the same technology? That was on my list a few years ago.

I've been watching The Punisher show and I fell asleep to Bram Stroker's Dracula last night. The latter is cheesier than I remember and makes me sorely miss the Rennfield in the original film. The Punisher show is really amazing but I'm a huge fan of the character. It does a great job with PTSD too.

I think I might watch Mystery Science Theater 3000 to wind down today after a stressful day and for some laughter-banishment after being really involved in magick the past couple days.

@Xepera maSet (http://orderoftheserpent.org/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=3) I really love it. I can't recall but I think I saw in our library section, right? Definitely belongs there.

It's a great movie, Gary Oldman is one of my favorite actors. I love Keanu Reeves but man, he really highlights why Jonathan Harker sucks as a character. Dracula has never been my favorite classic horor or gothic horror, I enjoy it but I find most lacking something.

The Mummy, the original with Boris Karloff, is my favorite tale of someone becoming immortal and searching for his lost love in modern times. I believe both Dracula and The Mummy are recommended in Apophis for this reason. The Mummy Returns' plot is actually more accurate to the original but I prefer the original, Karloff is my favorite actor. He had such a presence.

Frankenstein, particularly, the novel will always be my favorite gothic story. I can relate a lot to poor Victor in the book.

Sorry, I could go on forever about the classic monsters and their literary inspirations.

Justice League was awesome, definitely a good conclusion to the trilogy. I love how they continued the concept of Chaos, Dark, and Light with Steppenwolf and the mother boxes. I loved the mythology as I did previously, it looked beautiful, and it was very fun. Actually might place it above MoS.

@Xepera maSet (http://orderoftheserpent.org/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=3)  If you like Snyder's mythological takes you should read some of the DC comics, particularly morrison. They're rife with mythology. My wet dream is David Lynch adapting final crisis.

I HIGHLY recommend All-Star Superman to anyone who likes Man of Steel as well as Morrison's Action Comics.

You've reminded me that there's a lot of esoteric lore to be extracted from DC Comics thanks to Morrison, Moore, and Snyder influencing it all. I'm gonna have to re-awaken my passion for them.

The last movie I enjoyed at a theater was Jigsaw. It was actually quite nice! It was me and three other people, who all sat in the back. So, essentially, I had most of the theater to myself to enjoy the film.

Next on my list is to acquire a copy of the Devil's Rain.

I recently saw Mother. It's fucking amazing, I say we add it to the Library page.

Arafonsy is one of my favorite directors and he really knows his shit when it comes to biblical lore. Pi and Noah have a lot of real Kabbalastic stuff in them. He's said Fountain is closest to what he believes spiritually.

But, Mother, wow. It's an incredibly dark re-telling of the bible framed as an home invasion movie from the perspective of the Mother who symbols Mother Nature.

Javier Bardem plays an allegory for God as The Poet and Lawrence as Mother Nature and it's a really interesting perspective on the story.

Also, as someone who loves lore and mythology, I thought of the Jefferson Bible that Thomas Jefferson created by editing. It would be very interesting to make a "post-modern bible" using movies like Noah, Exodus, and Mother that are not made by or from a judeo-christian perspective and editing them together.

Kenneth Anger's short films have really re-awakened my passion for the art-form.

Last night, I watched Rabbit's Moon and Scorpio Rising. I really loved both.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOWqF55jUaI

He has a bit(okay, a lot) of occultism in his stuff but it's mainly the combination of music and film without dialogue I love. Scorpio Rising was the first film to use a pop music soundtrack for effect and Anger has been an influence on Martin Scorsese, John Waters, and David Lynch.

There's a new Cloverfield on Netflix. I'd watch tonight if I didn't have school in the morning. If anyone views it, please let me know how it is!

I've been watching Doctor Who here and there when I get some time away from school and (now) work. Some nice synchronicities here and there with them but it's mainly just a nice way for me to relax and shut my mind off(which I'm gonna try to meditate more when I need to do that.)

I have seen it but I have no idea what to think of it. It's a completely different kind of film in every way, to the previous two. The previous two are both very constrained by space (the bunkers) and technology (1st person, hand-held) but this one isn't at all, rather it's a time-travelling CGI-fest in space. The film itself explains certain reasons for there to be an anthology series but I don't know if I am or not, satisfied with those reasons.

I love the original Cloverfield and 10 Cloverfield Lane, quite a lot though

Oldboy is a fantastic film.

I'm currently watching the Patrick Stewart version of MacBeth that features Soviet Union imagery.

This is probably my favorite Shakespeare play after having the privelage of seeing a few unconventional takes on it live.

It's superbly written and has many archetypes found in noire(femme fetale, obession, murder, etc.) with an aire of supernatural around the whole thing.
