Robert Schumann symphony no. 3, 4th movement.  Beautiful, dark, melancholic;

A funeral march or dirge "Funerailles" by Franz Liszt, one of the many works I learned during my classical training years studying music theory and piano technique.  Here played by one of my favorite pianists Claudio Arrau;

Lovely. I recognize the first movement of this piece from SMT Nocturne whenever the main character enters the Cathedral of Shadows.

I do indeed enjoy certain 20th century composers such as Barber, and his Sonata for piano;

Mozart is generally remembered for the jewel-like perfection of his music. This piece, however, stands out with its more ominous opening. It's been nicknamed "Dissonance."

It would be a shame to leave out Danse Macabre if we're talking about a darker feel. I'm always surprised how modern this composition feels. (Written in 1874)

And one of the most popular sounds from Debussy, Clair de Lune. (Light of the Moon)

Liszt "Ballade No. 2" darkly beautiful, technically challenging, and fun to play;

Although he was into Theosophy, rather than hermetic magic:

One of my favorite composers and musicians in any genre (and he's combated a lot of genres!)
His music has covered (as far as spirituality) everything from Thelema, Crowley, Spare, Gnosticism, Jewish Mysticism and beyond.

As most will know, the title of this piano work translates to "Do What Thou Wilt"  :)

I love everything Scelsi wrote  8)

He was also inspired (at the least - I'm not sure) by the occult and ancient religion:

@Frater Sisyphus (http://orderoftheserpent.org/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=124) I have more of an appreciation for the work after reading some of For Freedom Destined by Franz Winkler.
